LA premiere!  

Our film team will be doing Q&A after the 5:10 & 7:20 screenings this weekend, Saturday June 25 & Sunday June 25.  Stay tuned for announcements of special guests throughout our one-week run in LA.  (Felicia Tomasko, editor-in-chief of LA Yoga Magazine, will host the 7:20 Wednesday night screening June 29, as we focus on the concept of non-harming as it relates to animals & the environment.)   Audience attendance on opening weekend will determine whether we're extended in LA, and how widely we can release the film across the U.S. this year, so if you're planning on seeing the film, please try to come this weekend!!!!

Good Q&A after the screening – Director Lisa Leeman, Producers Cristina Collissimo & Jordana Glick-Franzheim, Co-Producer/Composer Miriam Cutler, and elephant advocate extraordinaire Catherine Doyle (In Defense of Animals) fielded questions ranging from “Why is Flora a lucky elephant?” to “If elephants are so endangered in the wild, what’s wrong with keeping them safe in captivity?”  (answers: Flora was unlucky to be orphaned in a culling in Africa, but she was lucky that the person who adopted her was David Balding, who cared deeply about her and did the right thing by retiring her and finding her the right home so she can ‘be the elephant’ she was born to be; and yes, elephants in the wild are endangered by increased poaching, drought, & elephant/human conflict as our species vie for habitat space…. but elephants in the wild still live quite a bit longer than they do in captivity, which pretty much sums it up.  (Elephants need huge expanses to roam, to live in large herds with extended family, and to remain autonomous in the wild).
