We are thrilled to report that One Lucky Elephant will air on Oprah Winfrey's new network, OWN, as part of their monthly documentary film club, which will debut in spring of next year. Wheeee! OWN will debut on January 1, 2011 in approximately 80 million homes on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel. Details are still being worked out, but the general idea is that Oprah's many platforms will highlight one doc a month, exploring the film's themes and issues throughout the month. Indiewire speculates that OWN "could very well do for documentary film what Winfrey did for the publishing industry."
