We're delighted to announce that the Laemmle Music Hall theater has extended our run another week, through Thursday, July 7 (buy tickets here). Showtimes this holiday weekend are:
Sat/Sun/Mon (July 2-4): 2:50 matinee screenings ; 8pm (& 10pm Saturday night)
Sunday July 3 - Thursday July 7: 8pm nightly. Our film team will continue Q&A's Saturday & Sunday after the 8pm screenings. Stay tuned for an announcement of special guests this coming week, & a weekend morning screening at the Monica Laemmle (Santa Monica) the weekend of July 9/10.
The Q&A's have been rich and heartfelt discussions. Many want to know if David and Flora have seen each other since the film was completed (you'll have to come to a Q&A to find out). I've promised to post answers here to questions that I haven't been able to answer in the theater, so here goes. Many people have asked how The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is funded - you can download their annual report here. As you can see, the sanctuary gets enormous support from individual donors, as well as grants from foundations. The annual report states the annual expenses to be over two million dollars - that's a trunkful of expenses!
I'll answer more questions in this blog in future entries, and feel free to email me questions at lisa@oneluckyelephant.com.

answer this topic Lots of specialists say that loans aid people to live their own way, just because they can feel free to buy needed things. Moreover, various banks offer financial loan for different classes of people. |

... post traumatic stress disorder rubbish she obiously miss her long time companion and should have been allowed to see him till she came to realise in her own time what was going on the so called expert in the film my know people and not animals and have caused this elephant to suffer loss again after feeling safe and secure to be made to feel abandoned it seems to me that the wWoeman in the film it was about control and thinking she kew best you could tell by the way Flora reacted towards her that Flora knew who was reponseable having had lot of human contact and then none arrogant people who think they know everything typicle |

Flora's Wellbeing I believe although well intentioned that Carol was wrong not to allow David to see Flora. I believe the reason Flora acted out after David's departure was because she felt abandoned, which probably did bring back memories of what happened to her mother. But to keep Flora from David permantly away is down right cruel to both. I believe Flora would had adjusted much easier had David been allowed to visit. The transition would had been smoother and although she would have enjoyed David's vists immencely Flora would had decided on her own that she likes it at the sanctuary and wouldn't had had a problem with David leaving because she would enjoy the visits but know where she belonged. Elephants never forget. She will never forget David and the love that he had for her therefore keeping David away from Flora caused her great pain. Shame on you Carol for keeping them apart. |

... I was both saddened and angered by this documentary. It brought me to tears. It is outrageous to deny the friendship of David and Flora for even one more day. I do not buy into this psycho babble about Flora having PTSD. Give me a break! I suppose Flora is on prozac too! Animals are much more resilent and Flora would probably be okay if she never saw David again. What about David though? It would seem that Carol has lost touch with her own species. I'd say she breached the contractual agreement by denying David access to Flora and David has every right to reclaim his elephant. My donation dollars will remain in my pocket until David is allowed to visit his friend again. |

Carol I was completely disgusted and angered by Carol. She not only lied to David but she broke that poor mans heart. How could she be so heartless and selfish. I am sure if it was the other way around and she couldnt see her pet elephant she would be terribly upset. I cried for David, i felt for David, and i felt for his beloved baby Flora! Again, Carol....how can you be so cruel? You lied outright to David. You fooled him when you took in Flora and promised to let him visit. Shame on you! You should feel horrible! |

... Carol was fired from the sanctuary last year. Tarra was her elephant & the sanctuary wouldn't allow her to see Tarra after her firing. |

... Elephant Sanctuary does not allow any one to see their elephants. I was a supporter until I saw this film. I agree & think not seeing David upset Flora even more than when he left. PAWS, another elephant sanctuary, allows visitors & does have special weekends that you can help with the elephants. I will now support PAWS. |

Carol is the cause of Flora's PTSD I believe Flora does have PTSD but it has nothing to do with David. Carol helped train Flora when she was a baby and the training was cruel and abusive.Flora destroyed the steel fencing when she got there and towards the end was throwing rocks at Carol. Flora knows exactly who Carol is and it is Carol causing the flashbacks & PTSD. Carol doesnt want David to come because she wants Flora to bond with her and if Flora knows David is alive she will never bond with Carol. Did you notiuce Carol doesnt get in the pasture with Flora? Flora cant stand her and the very sight of her brings back the abuse from when she was a baby. David should be allowed to see Flora. Carol she will never bond with you. You are the trigger of her PTSD and you know it. |

No Q&As yet??? This last post on the blog is now almost 6 months old. Isn't it time now for some sort of update, especially about David & Flora and if they have met again. People are now viewing this who are in no position to come to any Q&As as they live in a different country, continent, or even hemisphere. I've read elsewhere that Carol has been sacked from The Elephant Sanctuary - has that changed anything in relation to David being able to visit. |
